Debt-Review Status, Exit & Clearance

Debt-Review Status, Exit & Clearance

Already under debt review? Let us first establish your correct status.

People often use the phrase “debt review removal” to describe different situations. The correct route depends on whether the application is still being assessed, whether over-indebtedness was determined, whether a consent or court order exists, which debts remain unpaid, and whether the legal requirements for a clearance certificate have been met.

We can help you assess

  • Whether your credit profile reflects a debt-review indicator.
  • Which debt counsellor is currently recorded on the matter.
  • Whether a debt rearrangement order or agreement exists.
  • Whether listed accounts have been settled or remain outstanding.
  • Whether you may qualify for a clearance certificate.
  • Whether a legal application or referral to an attorney may be required.

Possible routes

The correct route depends on your current status, supporting records and any existing legal process.

Possible route When it may apply What the process may involve
Status correction
The debt-review indicator appears to be incorrect or may have been captured without a valid application. The facts and supporting records must be investigated before the appropriate correction process can be followed.
Clearance certificate
You may meet the statutory requirements for a Form 19 clearance certificate. Eligibility must be verified. Clearance is not based only on a consumer asking to be removed from debt review.
Court-related assistance
An existing legal order must be addressed before your debt-review status can be resolved. Legal advice or a court application may be necessary. We will explain when an independent attorney is required and whether legal fees are separate.
